I Love Productive Days

Overall today was a very productive writing day. I put down 1,000 on one book, 3,000 on another, and a scant but workable 1,000 on Lily.

I’m getting some of these lingering projects that I’ve been working on forever off of my plate so I can move forward.

Drawing Down BelialIn case anyone missed the announcement, I have a new Daemonolatry book coming out called Drawing Down Belial. The release date is June 6. It’s a book about Daemonic Divination, Ascension and Channeling. Yes, there is a reason it’s called Drawing Down Belial, which is explained in the book’s introduction. One of the unique things about the book is that I’ve actually done some automatic writing and channeling with various Daemons and allowed them to contribute some of their own wisdom to the book. The book is currently in editing and I have a few more sessions to do to allow all the Daemons who wanted to say something, say something. So far the edits aren’t too extensive. My editor did ask for more in a few areas for elaboration.  So the book may come out a little earlier – or perhaps it won’t. Suffice to say it’s almost done and out the door.

I plan on having Black Lily and Drawing Down Belial out next month. Black Lily won’t be outwortcunning final until the end of the month though. More toward my birthday. I’ll be 42 this year. I like to think I’m like fine wine — I get better with age.  I am hoping to have Wortcunning for Daemonolatry: A Formulary for the Daemonolater Alchemist & Gardener out before the end of the summer. This book is turning into a HUGE beast. I had to move it from Word into Scrivener to give it shape because it had no cohesive organization in the beginning.  We’re now talking well over a hundred pages here. I am putting the formularies in order as we speak. I keep finding new stuff to add. It was one of the books I added 1000 words to today — just in recipes! Ugh. If I end up with several hundred pages out of this one I wouldn’t be surprised. The editors are going to have a lot of fun going through this one.  I Rites of Belphegor 2have one more Daemonolatry book (with Andrieh Vitimus) scheduled to come out before end of year, at latest beginning of next. That one is Rites of Belphegor wherein Andrieh and I share our own work, insights, and rituals with the Rites of Belphegore. It does include traditional Daemonolatry rites as well. On the fiction front I have two more novels slated for autumn and winter releases. One definitely (Her Demon Wedding), the second tentatively (Ascending Darkness).

So I am a busy, busy girl. However, once all these babies are off my plate, I can use 2015 for Sacrae Infernales and Grimoirium Daemonolatrie, the fifth and final OTS book, and possibly Thirteen Covens. I don’t know what’s going to happen on the Anne O’Connell front in 2015. I have some ideas, obviously, but I haven’t made plans yet. I’d rather books come naturally. While it’s tempting to write the same stories over and over again, I don’t want to end up like authors who do that. There are some authors I can only read 4-5 of their books before I have to stop just for this reason. It all starts to sound the same.

I need to clear out the backlog. I have A TON of it. It’s so tempting to say I will get to Eagle’s Talon Gray in 2015, or the new S. J. Reisner series, but I can’t make those kinds of promises.

In the meantime, Black Lily is sexy, steamy and moving right along.  I had to fix some stuff for editor Wheezy and that’s what I concentrated on today. This Memorial Day weekend should be rather productive for me after Sunday. Saturday I have a class to teach, and a graduation party to attend, and for all of it a dear friend is coming in from Texas for the day. So that will be my fun day. I only have to do office work for two days next week, my mom is going in for surgery on her shoulder, so if I need to run errands or help out there I can. But the rest of that time is writing time and I am going to use it to get Lily written, in full, and to my editor. Hopefully she’ll have it all by June 1. I know – I’m pushing my luck, but it could happen! That gives us a month for final edits and formatting and by end of June, a book is sent out into the world. So it goes.

In the meantime – I started this year’s vegetable garden, got the flower pots out front planted, and started getting the yard ready for spring. We’re getting tons of rain here, which is nice for a change. There are flower and strawberry seedlings in the greenhouse. I’m hoping for some fresh veggies. The squashes are all looking good, two tomato plants are looking well, and the peas look good. We may yet get celery and beans, and with any luck the peppers won’t die. The hops are coming in. It may be too cold for the peppers yet and I may have to re-plant. We’ll see. Gardening in the Rockies is always an adventure.

Sorry I haven’t been writing more in the blog, and that I’ve been rather slack on the 25th as a posting day. Now I’m off to finish some readings. Hope you’re all having a great night and hopefully you’re getting excited about some of my forthcoming titles!  🙂  I know I am!
