Magick,  the writing life

Day 17: More Promo Events and Edits #DoMagick

Whoever said slow and steady wins the race certainly didn’t suffer from impatience. I suppose that’s a symptom of our instant gratification society. Long gone are the days of having to wait until your media store has something on the shelf. You can just go online, buy it, download, and have whatever media you want in a matter of minutes. Sometimes seconds!  Thanks to credit cards, we no longer have to put major items on layaway or save to purchase whatever it is we want. So there’s that.

What’s my point? Sometimes I wish putting my books in front of an audience was nearly as quick efficient as just whipping out a credit card to pay for that new computer. Unfortunately, we all know that’s not the way it works. LOL Writers are a dime a dozen these days. We sometimes only have a matter of seconds to convince a reader to spend their hard earned money on our books. It’s not easy. In a way, it’s like selling items door-to-virtual-door.  Sadly it can often take hours upon hours of marketing just to earn a small handful of readers. But you know what? We are VERY thankful for each and every one of those readers. Readers are awesome and without them, writers are just weirdos writing stories for themselves!   🙂

Today was a slow promo day. I spent an hour promoting my books and for the most part – already dedicated readers of my books were the only ones to show up. I am thankful they showed up, otherwise, I would have spent an hour posting to myself. (So thanks, you guys!)  LOL  That’s how it goes though. Some events are awesome — others are slow. It didn’t help that we were competing with the beautiful weather outside. On a weekend no less.

I also worked on some editing, and made the oil to anoint my Sorath model. Yes, I did anoint it. Then I reassembled it. I began the process of consecration and charging. The full ritual will take place Tuesday, but I felt the need to work up to the full thing.

Today’s Taroth Card: King of Cups – Emotional Maturity is important today. This card may also be suggesting I seek the input of an emotionally mature friend. Additionally – it could indicate channeling emotions into creative endeavors. Any of those things could apply to me today.

As for magickal work – the usual. Prayers and offerings during the temple opening, and meditation. I am going to wait on the drawing spell until Ba’al Collective comes out.

In the meantime – viva la Sorath!  Now I’m off to plan some magickal work for someone else. A tablet! I’ve gone tablet happy.
