Focus Meditation 5: Reflect #DoMagick
Meditation Title: Quiet Reflection
Technique: Think of the quiet reflection time as a meditation where you silence all the “noise” around you, sit in the silence, enjoy the peace and quiet, and listen to your inner self. Notice how very rarely is ANY meditation about “nothing”. Meditation is more about being in the moment. Being very aware of being in the moment. A lot of meditation is about shutting up and listening. So during quiet reflection time – you get to listen to yourself. Don’t react to anything yourself says. Just sit there and OBSERVE and LISTEN. You can act on the memory that you need to put the clothes in the dryer when the quiet reflection time is over.
Start at 10 minutes and slowly work your way up to 30 minutes. Chances are some of you probably already do quiet reflection, you just didn’t know it.

My Meditation : I tend to enjoy these quiet reflection sessions in the early morning before anyone else in the house is awake yet (including the cats).

Thoughts: I would be lost without my regular quiet time. Glorious silence. I’ve often joked with my husband that I could sit in an empty, quiet room for hours on end and not miss the world outside that room one bit. He finds the idea of sitting in a quiet room doing nothing terrifying. LOL It goes to show you how different we are. I enjoyed my session this morning, and alas – my reflection helped me work out a plot point on a story my brain is working on. Reflection time is never wasted time. Even if you do it in the shower.
