Day Fourteen: Talismans – Serenity #DoMagick

I call today’s talisman Serenity because for this watercolor, during the act of its creation, I focused on Serenity.  Upon finishing this piece I felt a deep calm within.  I am not sure why I chose to paint mountains and trees, but probably because I’ve always found great peace hiking in the Rocky Mountains.

Watercolor can be a bitch to work with. I chose watercolor because there’s something about the way the colors blend that I really enjoy.  The brush to paper, the constant dabbing with paper towels. It’s not nearly as messy and the clean up is simple.

I tried a few techniques in this one that I liked. In retrospect I didn’t need to outline the mountains, that was more for me, but perhaps next time I’ll try something different.
