Firsts

I remember when I made my first semi-pro short story sale. It was A Sorcerer By Any Other Name and I sold it to a small zine called Sorcerous Magazine back in 1996. I later sold the same story to Alexandria Digital Literature. That seems to be how it goes with my short fiction. It always ends up a reprint someplace else.

But alas, A Sorcerer By Any Other Name hasn’t been available in years. This is probably a good thing. I read it now and I laugh. It was the work of someone who’d only been writing seriously for five years. To think it took me even that long to write something salable is sobering. It was one of the few fantasy shorts I sold as S. Connolly as opposed to S. J. Reisner.  I thought I’d share some archive photos of this publication for fun. It was a monumental first for me, and this blog post will serve as a testament to such a fun, feel-good memory.
