Smashing Saturday

I decided to be a BAD, BAD writer last night. Instead of writing, I cracked open the latest Madelyn Alt. I do have to say this about Madelyn Alt – her writing is pretty average, but her characters are divine and her story-telling is fun. I did consider Victoria Laurie’s 9th Psychic Eye Mystery, but Laurie’s stories aren’t as “brain candy” and right now I need brain candy (sorry Madelyn, but brain candy can be an awesome thing!). So far I’m finding Home For a Spell entertaining. It’s a bit predictable, but I’m in the mood for predictable.

Tonight I’ll be doing some writing. Today I’m at the office doing some stuff here.  I’ve got a lot of stuff on my brain. Deadlines, home improvement projects, family, etc…

Yesterday would have been my Grandma Connolly’s 100th birthday. RIP Grandma.

In other news the stone mason dropped by some of the stones for the front patio. I admit that I expected more color variation (DH did, too), but the color matches the mortar in the brick of the front of the house.  Last night DH and I looked it all over and talked about the changes. I really think it’s going to look great. Construction (de-construction lol) starts next month. The gray tiles, the gray porch, the gray-white main color of the house with a slate gray trim (we have white windows and a white security door + white gutters and the garage door will be white) — it’s going to look pretty. Better than yellow and brown. Bleh. Again – I really need to take before and after pics. Maybe this weekend I’ll take the “Before” pics and I’ll post them. Stay tuned!
