SPAM Bots & Revision Tales

Earlier this week my site here was hit with one of those comment SPAM bots. If you have a blog you know the ones I’m talking about. The ones that post silly comments and URLs to posts from back-in-the-day in hopes the comments will just sit there unnoticed. The plan being that the more sites that link to them will raise their site in the search engine ranking. Of course most blogs have a lovely feature built in to combat this called comment moderation. 🙂  What sucks is I still had to go in and mark about 40 comments SPAM. Don’t these people realize that most active blogs are heavily moderated? Does this crap (SPAMming other people’s sites) actually work? I always wonder who spends their time SPAM bombing websites in hopes their website will rise in the search engine ranks. Who are you people? And who sold you on this idea? Not to mention who knows if these URLs in the comments link to viruses or not. I wasn’t clicking to find out and I’ll be darned if someone is going to come to my site only to end up with a virus. I’ll do my best to avoid that at all costs.

Now on to revision tales. Last night it occurred to me that I have A LOT of work to do on OTS#2. One of my editors and I sat down and looked some of it over (talked out some plot points) and had an overall productive conversation about the book. This one isn’t needing just “edits” but some serious revision. It seems a bit daunting at the moment, but I think I can swing it. I have a cohesive beginning, middle, and end at this point. I just need to flesh it out and breathe some more life into it. It’s a bit listless.  In brighter news – we also went over the first 1/3 of Thirteen Covens and my editor LOVED it!  We also discussed the beginning of OTS #3 – also LOVED it! Sadly – she’s loving OTS#3 more than OTS#2 now so I really need to work on #2’s presentation.  There are issues there.  ::sigh::  So off to revisions I go!

Have a beautiful Friday and catch you all tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
