Review: Sophie Will

I love being able to recommend new authors when I can. This was a fun, short read about a sexually neglected wife gone rogue. Yes, there is infidelity. There’s even some light bdsm (too light for my taste, but still hot and still very much there).

To be honest, as a reader I felt kinda bad for Sophie because her husband is a lame jackass and she seems so innocent and untouched by the world. Then Wham! she finds herself in a situation where she’s encouraged to let herself give in to her desires and wants. At that point she turns into the equivelant of a sexually starved woman who will devour whatever comes her way. No, she’s not a slut. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a book about a woman who gets all sluttly. Just a story about a woman who loses control and finds herself head-over-heels for another man, a man who treats her like she should be treated by her husband. This is the first in a series of short stories and I’m looking forward to reading all the parts because I want to see Sophie explore her deeper feelings and develop as a character. I also want to know what is going on in Clay’s head. There’s obviously a deep attraction at work here. In this book it is a bit “surfacy”, but then with new writers that sometimes happens.

Overall, there are plenty of hot scenes to keep the reader going (which make the book well worth the price).  It’s also short, but then I’m personally into shorter work (especially when I’m working on a project) because it doesn’t require the same commitment as a novel.  So if you’re looking for a short read this weekend, pick up a copy of Sophie Will.
