Magician's Garden,  mandrake files,  the writing life

Busy Week

It’s been one of those billingendofmonthtoomuchtodonotenoughhoursintheday weeks so far. I don’t really care for weeks like that.

A few problems – the first being my tomatoes are quickly outgrowing my indoor aeroponic garden. I need to harden them off but I work until 6 every day this week. This means at most they can get 1/2 to 1 hour outdoors each day unless I risk it and stick them out in the morning and bring them in when I get home (that might be too much yet). I’ve already decided that for next year I need freestanding grow lamps.  Second – the rosebush didn’t clone. Third, none of the magickal plants are germinating yet. Try-try-again. I still have hope for the Mandrake and Cypress but am going to try a different approach for the others.  Namely a seedling mat and a small germination box with a dome. A mini-greenhouse if you will. Or maybe once we actually get the greenhouse up (this weekend with any luck!) I can move my bigger plants in there and free up the seedling house for germinating seeds. The other option is for me to start some of the magickal seedlings in the aeroponic garden and see if I have better luck. It’s worth a shot. Granted I’d have to run more seeds through cold strat, but it might be worth it. It couldn’t hurt to try. Again, with any luck we’ll see if my Mandrake germinates. If by April next year it hasn’t I’ll try something new.

I’ve been thinking about the new OTS novel more than I’ve been writing on it. While it’s frustrating I have to keep reminding myself that thinking about the work is just as important as actually writing (especially in this case). That doesn’t mean I haven’t been getting any writing done. I have. A sentence here and there on OTS and quite a bit on different projects (which is normal).  I think what I need to do is sit down and take a look at the book as a whole again. I’m notorious for working on parts here and there then weaving them together.

Enough about me, let me know what YOU have been up to. 🙂

Agree with you there! As you can tell I’m catching up with your blog this fine Wednesday night. It was great to see you over at the greenhouse forum finally and I hope you’ll share your greenhouse pics with us soon. Did I tell you I’m having luck growing Hibiscus!? I killed three plants before these two finally took. 🙂 I’ve been working and gardening and gardening and working. Luckily Shelly will be coming by when we take the kids and horses to North Carolina and then Florida for a few tournaments this summer.
