So my third book (sorry – still a secret) for 2011 is making its way to beta tonight. Actually, technically it is my second. Training Amy was supposed to be a December 2010 release and that just didn’t happen. Regardless, once this one is done in beta, it goes to editing, then any corrections are made, and then it goes to print for proofing, then if the proof clears it is actually made available. So technically the eBook and preliminary paperbacks could be out by beginning of April. But it may not hit distribution outlets until late April or May. We’ll see. I don’t want to count chickens just yet. My betas may tell me I’ve missed a lot, my editor might growl and shove a marked up MS at me, and I might crawl into a corner and cry (just kidding!).
Now I’m off to work on my fourth book of the year. Obviously that’s the newest OTS novel, which I have been working on all along albeit in small sections. I might need some inspirational reading. I have both the newest Madelyn Alt and the latest Victoria Laurie on standby.
On that note – for you avid readers out there – BOYCOTT DORCHESTER (LIESURE) books! They’re not paying their authors again! (Or should I say still?) I have a dear friend who was one of Dorchester’s bestselling horror authors back in the 1980’s and she had problems getting them to pay her royalties back then. Seems some things never change. Check it out: Brian Keene asks readers to Boycott Dorchester. It’s unfortunate that we still have huge corporations making all their money off of creative folks and the people who create the material are the ones who end up making the least (or getting the shaft). It happens with record labels and it sometimes happens with publishers – even reputable ones. But then Dorchester has been backsliding recently and switched to a primarily eBook publishing model. And there are rumors they’re publishing eBooks they no longer have the rights to. They say on their FB Fan page that they’re working to correct the issue (now that they’ve been caught was the underlying subtext there). Crazy stuff. Catch you all tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
