As a fellow Internet user myself, I totally respect your online privacy. So it goes without saying that I’m fully committed to safeguarding your online privacy while you’re here at the The Quadrant.
And that’s precisely why I’ve decided to include the following, which discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for this website.
Like most standard websites, this website uses log files. These include: Internet Protocol addresses (IP addresses), browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and the number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement in the aggregate, and to gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc., are not linked to personally identifiable information. All of this basically means I use that data to see which posts and pages people are most interested in, and to get a general idea of site traffic. My log files only go back 30-days before the data is dumped into the virtual shredder.
For those visitors who elect to join my mailing list, know that I will never sell your information or share your email address with anyone else. I use a double opt-in system where you are required to click the opt-in link that you receive in email within 48 hours of you signing up for my newsletter. If your email address is not confirmed within that 48 hours, your email address is deleted from my system. I do not collect names or other personal sensitive data. I will only use collected email addresses for the purpose of sending readers my emailed newsletters which contain information about new books, sale books, free content, and news about their favorite pen name(s). Readers are welcome to unsubscribe, or re-subscribe at any time. If you need help with your newsletter subscription, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
The only time I add emails directly to the newsletter list is if you’ve entered a contest or giveaway wherein subscribing to my newsletter was part of the deal for entry, at which time I will send an opt-in email to you so you can make your final choice. Again, you can unsubscribe at any time. All unsubscribed email addresses are deleted from my system. However – if you enter another contest where you opt to give me your email address, your email address may be re-added and you can opt-in or out at that time. All newsletters contain a link at the bottom where you can modify your subscription or unsubscribe.
I regularly clear out email addresses that have been inactive (i.e. not opened my newsletter) for a year. If you end up on the inactive list, never fear! I do send out a reactivation newsletter 10-14 days before deleting your email address. That way, if you want to stay on the list(s) you have the opportunity to do so. After deletion, however, you would have to resubscribe.
Web cookies (also known as HTTP cookies, or just cookies) are parcels of text that are sent by a server to a Web browser, and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server. In other words, a cookie is a piece of data stored on a user’s computer that is tied to information about the user.
If you wish to disable cookies, you may do so through your individual browser options. Please check your browser’s help section for instructions on how to do this.
I do not currently use outside advertising networks and companies in order to display ads on this site. However, if that ever changes, these ads may contain cookies and/or web beacons in order to collect data in the ad serving process. These such cookies and/or web beacons are collected by the companies and/or advertising networks, themselves. I do not have any access to this information.
If I do add any advertising to this site in the future I will list those advertisers here so that if you have any questions, please check their websites for their respective privacy policies.
