Magick,  the writing life

Day 19: Meditation Challenge #DoMagick

I slept from 5 pm last night until this morning and forgot to post my blog from yesterday, so I backdated that post and posted it this morning. I woke up an hour later than usual today. My stomach was still mildly queasy when I woke so I didn’t have breakfast. I made a list of to do’s in my brain. Grocery list for xmas dinner with my parents, empty dishwasher, write, podcast. Then I sat down for 30 minutes and imagined myself doing each of these things. I spent fifteen minutes concentrating on the writing since that was today’s big goal.

If you really look at it, I got a ton done today.  I did almost 4000 words on DPM, but deleted about 1000 of them because I wrote something better. On the upside, the first three chapters and the intro are ready for edits. I have 12 more chapters to finish. Don’t get me wrong, the bulk of the book is written. What I’m doing now is the technical commentary and cleanup on the bonus content that will be available in the paperbacks. It’s roughly another 5,000 words, which at the rate I’m going is two more five-hour sessions – so ten hours. Then the entire book will get another polish during the format, then I’ll toss it into editing and beta at the same time to streamline the process. With any luck, I’ll have it out at the end of December. Ebook may not be available until mid-January. If I can’t get the print copies out until January, it will be early in the month, like the first week or two.

Also, I did get the podcast, grocery list, and domestic chores done today. Go me! This is a very effective meditation technique so far. I may just keep it. But it doesn’t seem to be a cure for my slow productivity right now. Again, holding out on the current magickal model configuration to see if things speed up after Mercury goes direct.  It may not be until next week sometime that we see improvement there.
