Day 10: Meditation Challenge #DoMagick

So last night I began cleaning up my office a bit. Removing boxes, setting up my heater, straightening my desk. All that good stuff. I feel a lot better and more motivated, but I still have a ways to go. I have two boxes of old software, phones, floppy disks, zip disks, etc… to go through and decide what’s staying and what goes. I have a tote of photos and memorabilia to go through. That will likely end up in the storage room. I have a box that my Harry Potter boxed hardcover book set came in. I am putting that in storage because the books in their chest, and in the original shipping box could be worth something to my heirs 50 years from now. Once I get all that cleaned up, then I can work on my office closet. A lot of what’s in there will be going downstairs. The rule is – if I haven’t needed it in a year, it can go into storage. If I haven’t opened the container in 5 years — I get rid of it. And nothing new comes into the house unless I give up something old. It’s the only way to keep down on the clutter.

Some of the crap in here will be gone with Yule as I have a small stack of gifts just waiting to be wrapped. I preluded this post with this information because I think it’s relevant here. One of the things this month’s meditation has inspired is that I need to get my shit back in order. I’m usually a very organized person, but once the clutter hits – I do a bomb dive straight into a ravine!

So today’s thirty-minute meditation wasn’t focused on productivity. Instead, I meditated on having an enjoyable day, and to finish two things I needed to get done today. I had to type up instructions for a few clients, get ahold of one and schedule a pickup, and send another client’s order in the mail. So far I’m not disappointed. I had a fabulous time at a friend’s wine tasting this afternoon. It was fun – incredible company.

Bottom line – I got a lot done and the meditation this month has sparked my motivation to get things cleaned up around here. WOOT! Who knows what other revelations will smack me upside the head.
