NaNoWriMo 2012
Every year I do an “unofficial” NaNoWriMo.
For those of you who don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, let me give it to you straight. In November every year, thousands of writers get together and share the goal of writing a 50,000 word (minimum) novel in one month’s time. NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month and you can learn more about it HERE.
I haven’t done an official (i.e. starting a new book from scratch) NaNo since 2008. I say “unofficial” because I am usually in the middle of a manuscript by the time November rolls around each year. I can’t always take a month off from what I’m working on to start a new project every November. This year it’s the same thing. I have already started “Her Demon Lover” and that will be my unofficial NaNo project. I will be working toward 50K on that particular novel and everything I’ve already written will not count toward that word-count goal.
Then why do NaNo at all, you ask? Because sometimes it’s fun to write with a little extra incentive. NaNo is a community experience that you share with other writers. So throughout all of November you can expect word count posts on my Facebook and possibly on this blog. Perhaps I’ll install a counter. We’ll see. That might be too much pressure.
So let the games begin! If you are reading this and you’re doing NaNo this year, too – let me know! Let’s cheer each other on! 50K or bust!

This is probably going to be my last official one.

It gets harder and harder to do official runs, doesn’t it? Good luck and I’ll be cheering you on!
