A Malkuth of Me,  business of writing

In Support of Writer Beware

Writer Beware is basically a website ran by a few ladies in the SFWA who “out” scammers in the literary world. See, the problem seems to be that there are a lot of scams for authors out there. These scammers figure that people are so desperate to be published they’ll pay out the nose to get it, especially after all traditional venues have rejected them. Sadly – they’re right. A lot of would-be-authors do fall for these scams.

So basically Victoria Strauss and Ann Crispin look into these scams and expose them for what they are, thus making the noob’s navigation of the world of publishing that much easier.

Their work over the years has been invaluable for thousands of would-be-published authors. As a matter of fact, after I got tangled up with my first publisher it was Writer Beware that exposed them for the frauds that they were! I will be forever grateful to Writer Beware for simply being there when myself and other AB authors needed to warn other writers. It really helped having someone in our corner.

Recently some of the scammers exposed by Writer Beware decided to fight back by trying to discredit Writer Beware and the two wonderful ladies who run the site.  This won’t stand. As a writer I support Writer Beware and the work they’re doing.  The trolls attempting to discredit them will lose this battle.

So for all you authors out there seeking publication, bookmark the above two sites. Like them on Facebook. You’ll be grateful you did. Writer Beware can help you avoid the pitfalls and scam artists waiting for you and your book. And if you do find yourself scammed – by contacting Writer Beware and giving them data about your experience you can help other authors avoid being scammed, too.
