Curb Appeal

DH and I have so much going on this summer that we’re kind of excited about it.  Or at least I am. He is the one coordinating it all, but it has to be done. By the time we’re finished, it’s going to look like we have a new house. I really should take before and after pictures. We’re having a stone mason come in to re-do our front steps, walkway and patio (in stone obviously). The 30+ year old, wooden, 200 pound garage door is going away to make way for a new, insulated version. The brown shingles are coming off and we’re having a new roof put on in gray shingles. Finally, the awful yellow and brown paint is going away and we’re painting the house  a white or light gray with with grayish blue trim. Oh – and the faux shutters might be going away, too. We’ve also discussed doing trellises and climbing vines (something that flowers) up the front of the house. The landscaping may not happen until next year.

In the back – the old shed (with the hole in the roof) is making way for a new one before winter hits, and we’re still debating if we’re putting up the new gates this year or next. We might wait because we’re considering hiring the stone masons to come in and do the backyard, too, but that’s going to be one hell of an expensive project. We may have to wait a year or two for that. So really – by the time we’re done it’s going to look like a totally different house.

On that note – I’m putting off this periodontist appointment because I’m going to have to have oral surgery. Not a fan of pain. I have a receding gum on one of my front lower teeth, so they have to do a skin graft to build the gum tissue back up. Ouch! Yeah – not a fan of pain. I suggested to the dentist that we just pull the tooth and he said that would leave me with the need for braces (I have a really small lower jaw, so not all my adult teeth fit, so I have one in the lower front that is crowded out).  I hate getting older. The body needs more maintenance and starts screwing up. But aside from my receding, wonky gum – I’m pretty healthy. I eat healthier than most people (I really do eat my 5 servings of veg and 2 servings of fruit a day!). Now if I would just exercise regularly and keep myself in good physical shape I’d be golden!
